(PINPOINT WEATHER) – Thursday has a warm start with temperatures ranging in the low to mid-70s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Winds will remain relatively light and variable throughout the morning and afternoon.

The cold front responsible for yesterday’s showers and thunderstorms has stopped on the I-85 corridor and continues to provide cloudiness and a chance of intermittent rain for today. Although the risk of storms has diminished overnight, we still cannot rule out that a downpour or parasitic storm is developing near Queen City or just to the south.

Highs will be slightly below average for this time of year, peaking in the upper 80s. Partly cloudy skies will dominate with some pockets of sunshine likely. Any observed rainfall is expected to be relatively short.

Thursday night will be warm as lows dip into the 70s giving a warm new start to Friday.

We will finish the work week with temperatures above 80 and a chance of storms in the afternoon before this trend continues over the weekend.

The 90s return early next week with a chance of rain and storms.

Today: Hot and humid with a slight chance of rain. High: 88.

This evening: Persistent and hot showers. Low: 71.
