Coronavirus Omicron India LIVE News: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday urged states and union territories to step up testing in areas where testing has declined. In a meeting with officials from those states and UT, Mandaviya also urged them to send in Covid-19 tests and vaccination data in a timely manner, according to news agency ANI. The Minister of Health has also told states that as large numbers of people are opting for home isolation, they should be monitored in accordance with national guidelines.
India reported 2,55,874 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours on Tuesday, down from 3,06,064 infections the day before, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Health Ministry data also showed that 614 deaths brought India’s death toll to 4,90,462. The daily positivity rate is 15.52% and the weekly figure is 17.17%, both lower than Monday. Meanwhile, Britain has announced it will scrap Covid-19 testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers entering the country from next month. UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: ‘We are removing all testing measures for fully vaccinated eligible arrivals to England from 4am on February 11.’
