Tonight low: 75 degrees
Rain: 50% chance of PM thunderstorms
Main meteorological problems:
Central Florida can expect a hot and humid Friday with an increase in afternoon thunderstorms. Scattered storms will be possible around 2-3pm along the east coast sea breeze, then heavy showers will become likely in the evening across the interior with a chance of around 50%.
The main weather threats will be heavy rain, frequent lightning and the risk of gusty winds. When thunder rumbles, go inside. Chances of rain will be lowest on the coast, around 20% and more isolated.
There will be a 20% chance of afternoon showers/storms at the beaches this afternoon and evening. There is a low risk of rip currents. The surf stays in knee range with a little ESE swell dribble that continues.
Hot and humid conditions with numerous thunderstorms will continue this afternoon. It looks like temperatures will be in the triple digits, so be sure to stay hydrated and take breaks inside from the air conditioning. Best chance of rain between 3pm and 7pm. Heavy rain and lightning will be likely.
The chance of rain decreases a bit this weekend as drier air moves into the area. The launch window for the Artemis 1 mission opens at 2:17 p.m. Right now there is a 60% chance of bad weather.
Much of Saturday afternoon’s chance of rain will lie west of the launch site in Cape Town. Trust the FOX 35 Storm Team and download the FOX 35 Storm Team app for the latest weather updates!
Distant Tropical Storm Danielle will likely become the season’s first hurricane in the Atlantic. Danielle will stay away from land. The Storm team is also monitoring a few other tropical waves that pose no threat to Florida over the weekend.
Remember to stay alert as the peak of hurricane season approaches on September 10.
