Vice-presidential candidate and mayor of Davao, Sara Duterte, cast her ballot Monday, May 9, in the 2022 election in her hometown.
The outgoing mayor went to her neighborhood at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina, Davao City, first thing in the morning, as she always does. She was able to vote at 9 a.m.

Negros Occidental teacher shot dead on eve of election
NEGROS WEST, Philippines – A teacher from Negros Occidental was shot dead by unidentified men at Crossing Calasa in Barangay Caradio-an, Himamaylan City on Sunday evening May 8, on the eve of national elections.
Police say the victim, Mercy Miguel, and her husband were traveling home on a motorbike when they encountered huge boulders piled up in the road.

Election Watchdog Slow: Sample Ballots Not Allowed on Election Day
Are individuals allowed to distribute sample ballots outside polling centers on election day? According to the election monitoring body, the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (Lente), this is an election violation.
