Gorgeous holiday weekend weather, possible stray watering Saturday night

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – The rainy period ended just in time for the holiday weekend, good news if you have plans or outdoor trips! Throughout the holiday weekend, there is only one chance of rain for the TV5 viewing area. It’s coming tonight, but those seeing rain should only expect a few drops. The bigger story is the heat and humidity building up Sunday through Tuesday.

The weekend is off to a slow start with mostly sunny to clear skies around the region. Temperatures are cooling and visibility is excellent if you hit the road early this morning. Travel conditions north on I-75 and west on US-10 are also good, with travel moving at normal highway speeds. Mostly sunny skies remain for most of the day. This afternoon, warm sunshine may allow some fair weather cumulus clouds to appear, but expect conditions to remain mostly clear. Highs will reach up to around 72 degrees with a northerly wind moving south at 5-10 mph. The shoreline will remain cooler with the open waters of Lake Huron remaining in the 50s.

This evening

Around sunset, a few of the aforementioned nuggets will try to make their way in from the west. These showers are going to be remnants of a collapsing storm complex in Wisconsin, so they will already be dying down by the time they get here. There’s no need to cancel outdoor plans tonight, and if you see raindrops, expect them to be very short-lived (less than 30 minutes).

The wind this evening is blowing from the south southeast with a speed of 5 to 10 mph. Lows will land near 58, conditions will be great for any alfresco dining or campfire!

Rest of bank holiday weekend

Skies will return to mostly sunny conditions after a partly cloudy start. Temperatures will warm up even more than Sunday with a southerly wind helping all day. Expect readings to hit around 82 degrees. The south wind will be blowing from 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Humidity will also start to take a noticeable increase during the day with dew points starting to reach around 60 degrees.

Memorial Day itself will be even hotter with a high of 89 degrees. The dew points will also rise a little more, closer to 65 degrees. While not oppressive and heavy, it will definitely be sticky on the outside. The weather will cooperate for any outdoor memorial services you might have planned with mostly sunny skies.

Tuesday will also be hot and humid with highs of 90 degrees and mostly sunny skies. With the heat and humidity of the next few days, be sure to stay safe and take the necessary precautions to avoid dehydration and heatstroke. The most important of all safety tips is to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water!
