The rainfall that Delhi received recently broke previous records to become the highest amount of rainfall received so far in January from 1901.

The Safdarjung Meteorological Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, recorded 88.2 mm of rainfall this month, up to January 23. This is the highest amount of rainfall recorded by the weather station for the same period in the past 122 years, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). This year’s precipitation surpassed the record previously held – 79.7 mm of precipitation in January 1989.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday claimed that Law Enforcement (ED) officials were set to arrest Health Minister Satyendar Jain ahead of Assembly elections in Punjab.

“We learned from our sources that the ED is set to arrest Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain just before the Punjab elections. They are welcome. The Center attacked Satyendar Jain twice earlier and came back empty handed. If they want to come back, they are welcome,” Kejriwal said.
